Fashion Meme

At Emma’s encouragement, I have decided to do this:

A: What accessories do you wear everyday? wedding rings, bracelet, one other ring

B: What is your beauty routine? Morning: Wash face, pat dry, natural makeup, brush hair…Nighttime: brush teeth, moisturize hands, feet and legs, brush hair…

C: What was the last item of clothing (for yourself) that you purchased? I bought a white jacket and a pink chenille sweater.

D: Do you use a dresser, closet, or both? Both. Also a chiffonaire-it holds my unmentionables, socks, hose, and sweaters. My clothing and shoes are stored in the closet. E: What type of earrings are in your ears right now? None… F: What type of figure do you have? I am short with a small-medium bone structure. I have an hourglass figure.

G: Do you wear glasses? Yes…I’m supposed to wear them all the time…hmm

H: What type of handbag do you carry? I have a red leather Covington handbag and a pink leather Buxton change-purse.
I: What is your ideal style? Hmmm…I love the Edwardian and Victorian Era! But I would only be comfortable in the simple, casual clothing from that time period…lol Riding Skirt, pinafores, etc.
J: What jewelry are you wearing right now? Same as above…

K: Do you wear knee-hi stockings? No! They cut off my circulation…lol

L: Do you *have* to wear matching lingerie? It does have to be color coordinated…lol

M: Do you wear makeup? Yes If yes, what products do you use? Medium coverage foundation, pink blush, pink and brown eyeshadow, and Lip Dew…Going out: also black eyeliner, black mascara, and pinkish/lavender glossy lipstick.

N: Do you wear nightgowns? Yes, I hardly ever wear pajamas. It has to be in the 20’s…lol
O: What outerwear do you put on when going out on a typical winters day? A shawl type sweater or thick sweater, boots, and thick tights and/or socks.
P: What is your favorite perfume? At the moment, Chic Carolina Hererra.

Q: Is your motto “quality over quantity” when it comes to clothing and accessories? Yes. But I have found very well made clothing at reasonable prices…and I’m not one to really prefer name brands in anything, but come across sales at times that I can’t resist.
R: Do you wear rain boots? No, but I do own a pair of black rubber boots from years back….lol I use to wear them while picking blackberries and walking in the woods…I have seen all the pretty new styles and I’m looking for just the “right” pair!
S: Do you wear socks or slippers when your feet get cold? I wear both.

T: Do you have a set of travel luggage? No…
U: What is your daily uniform? In cold weather, a thick knit or denim skirt, with a sweater or layers of blouses, vest, etc. In warm weather, a linen or cotton skirt and a tank top with a sheer blouse over it.V: If you are married, did you wear a veil with your wedding dress? If not, how did you do your hair? I wore a veil at “both” my weddings…lol That is, my first wedding and when we renewed our vows…I wore a waist length veil both times and a train as well.
W: Do you wear a watch? Not all the time, just when I go out…

X: What item of clothing always makes you feel eXtremely beautiful? I feel beautiful in a dress, always…

Y: What is your favorite type of yarn? I love 100% cotton yarn, also chenille…
Z: Do you prefer zippers or buttons? I would have to say zippers…lol Lots less trouble getting in and out of clothing.

Hellooooo…Celebrate Pink Swap!

I know everyone is busy-busy just like me, but I’ve missed reading the comments the past few days!

I’m in a rush this morning to go to the store, I’ve helped my husband get the trash out, phone ringing off the wall, cooking lunch, doing a bit of laundry as well…Besides the normal to-do’s like getting dressed, makeup, etc…hmm

It is a “beautiful” day here in South Mississippi!! Sunshine and no clouds in sight! My husband has got the ground ready to plant our garden this week. I’ll have to make a list of seeds and plants to buy for it later.

I have a few things on my mind:

pinkhat.jpg

I want to see how many of you know about the “Pink Hat Club”…I thought it sounded cute for ladies under 50! I only have a couple or more years to go before I would fit into the Red Hat Club, so I think I’d better take advantage of this while I can…..LOL

Although I won’t be participating locally in a club with anyone, I would like to do my own little online version of this here on my blog. The hats are pretty, but I want to just use pink as our signature color and do a Celebrate Pink Swap!

Join us for a little old fashioned feminine fun! Comment on this post and let me know you want to participate and I’ll put your name on a list for a swap we’ll be participating in for “St. Patrick’s Day” & the “First Day of Spring”…We’ll trade little tokens, cards, or whatever our creative minds can think of to commemorate these two events and also Celebrate Pink by including it in the color scheme!! More swaps to come, so if you can’t join us this time there’ll be more in a month or so…By the way—there is no age limit here!! We love pink no matter how old or young we are-right??

Oooops: Deadline March 9 for signing up!

My first tea towel

My first tea towel!

The pic is blurry, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like…I’ll post another pic when I’m finished.

Eight Cousins

by

 Louisa May Alcott

Excerpt: “Phebe appeared with a cup of coffee.

“Debby told me to bring this and help you get up,” she said, opening her black eyes wide, as if she wondered how on earth “the sailor man” got there.

“I’m all dressed, so I don’t need any help. I hope that is good and strong,” added Rose, eying the steaming cup with an eager look. But she did not get it, for a brown hand took possession of it as her uncle said quickly: “Hold hard, my lass, and let me overhaul that dose before you take it. Do you drink this strong coffee every morning, Rose?”

“Yes, sir, and I like it. Aunty says it ‘tones’ me up, and I always feel better after it.”

“This accounts for the sleepless nights, the flutter your heart gets into at the least start, and this is why that cheek of yours is pale yellow instead of rosy red. No more coffee for you my dear, and by and by you’ll see that I am right. Any new milk downstairs, Phebe?”

“Yes, sir, plenty, right in from the barn.”

“That’s the drink for my patient. Go bring me a pitcherful, and another cup; I want a draught myself.”

Ironic, that I would be embroidering a coffee pot….LOL I do love it too….I have cut down considerably though.

It seems Uncle Alec threw away all of Rose’s medicines (into the flower bed). Now he has taken her coffee away and replaced it with fresh milk…What’s next?

“Uncle, are you going to make me eat oatmeal?” asked Rose in a tragic tone.

“Don’t you like it?”

“I de-test it!” answered Rose, with all the emphasis which a turned up nose, a shudder, and a groan could give to the three words.

“You are not a true Scotchwoman, if you don’t like the ‘parritch.’ It’s a pity, for I made it myself, and thought we’d have such a good time with all that cream to float it in. Well, never mind.” And he sat down with a disappointed air.

Rose had made up her mind to be obstinate about it, because she did heartily “detest” the dish; but as Uncle Alec did not attempt to make her obey, she suddenly changed her mind and thought she would.

“I’ll try to eat it to please you, Uncle; but people are always saying how wholesome it is, and that makes me hate it, ” she said, half ashamed at her silly excuse.”

Isn’t that the way we can be at times?? We detest something before we even try it just because someone said it is good for us! LOL Children are notorious for doing this…

Well…I’ve had fun reading this book! I’ll write more little excerpts at a later date, when I get a chance…Right now, my menfolk are back home and I have lunch to finish and housework to do.

I’ve been busy-busy since early this morning. I’ve had 2 repairmen here, cooked breakfast and lunch, and am just now sitting down for a bit waiting on my husband and son…

Well, not really! I must go attend to lunch…They’re home now…

Wednesday Outfit

wednesdayoutfit001.jpg

The picture isn’t good, the skirt is khaki and has pretty orange, turquoise, purple and green embroidery…

Today started out being cloudy, rainy and gloomy…which matched my spirits perfectly…lol This afternoon the sun popped out! And I started feeling better. I have been busy all day! And even though I haven’t really “accomplished” much I have stayed busy.

Today I have cooked 2 meals, cleaned the kitchen twice, made phone calls and appointments, took phone calls all day, surfed the web a bit, took a walk outside this afternoon and checked on my flowers-which are coming up nicely and blooms are everywhere. Iris, Daffodils and Narcissus. I made coffee for husband a little while ago, who came home an hour early from work…Now it is suppertime and I’ve already started that.

Some things I wanted to do today were:

  • Clean up and declutter my front door area

  • Get out my embroidery thread, actually “find” it, as my granddaughter has hidden it from me…lol

  • Start a new project—embroidering a tea towel!

  • Crochet a bit…I’ve started a yellow and white cotton dishcloth:

My grandson borrowed my crochet hook yesterday and I haven’t found it yet…lol

I’m off to finish my supper and try and rest a bit…

Outfit for Tuesday

My daughter came yesterday and repossessed my granddaughter’s camera I had borrowed…So I’m back to using my little key chain camera for the time being…fuzzy pictures! LOL

Tuesday's Outfit

Cream cowl-neck sweater and pleated pastel skirt.

This morning I have taken out the trash, washed trash cans, lined them again, fed the cats, cooked breakfast and now I’m off to get a few things at the store and run by my daughter’s house (beauty shop) ; ) for a little while…For a little pampering! Then back home and fix lunch and get outside a little to weed my flower beds and see if some of my flowers are peeping up through the ground and just enjoy the beautiful, sunny day God has blessed us with!

Does anyone know how to root branches from a Live Oak tree?? My son brought home two small cuttings yesterday in hopes of planting them in the yard…

Got to run—I’ve got many things to enjoy today!!

I hope you all have an enjoyable and productive day!
